Ajay Devgan's mega budget Hindi movie "Shivaay" was released in India and across the world on October 28, 2016. Sayesha Saigal, Erika Kaarand Abigail Eames also star in the film.

The film wasreleased in more than 60 countries, including India, US, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Canada and so on. The advance bookings were in full swing for the last couple of days, and considering the status, the film is expected to break a few opening day collection records.

Box office update:

"Shivaay" has collected Rs 10.24 crores on day one while ADHM has earned Rs 13.30 crores.

Even though the movie was produced with a large budget, the initial reviews coming out from the theatres are mixed to negative in nature.

The film may not fetch big in the long run.

People who have shared their reviews on social media sites indicate that the movie is gorgeous in style, but it lacks the substance very badly.

'Shivaay' vs 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' showdown

The film clashes with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", and as per earlier reports, "Shivaay" is lagging behind the Karan Johar directorial when it comes to opening day collections.

The film is blessed with the power packed performance of Ajay Devgan and some breathtaking action sequences, but with a shoddy screenplay, all these efforts went in vain.

The movie showcases the life of Shivaay, the man who lives in the mountains, and he is game for any competition. One day love strikes his life, and it becomes the turning point in his adventurous journey.

Public response to the film

Ajay Devgn as an actor scores well, but as a director, he was a real let down.

He was totally clueless on what he was doing, and this is one of the major drawbacks of this movie. Through this flick, we can easily understand that only exotic location and high budget are not enough to save a sinking ship.

Review by KRK:

The first-day box-office collections

At the box-office, the film may earn around Rs 30 Crore by the end of this weekend, but the collections may drop after Sunday, and due to the negative reviews, chances of a bounce back is pretty less.
