Time is running out for Raven-Symoné on ABC's "The View." Recently, she has been appearing only about once a week. It seems that she is being phased out, but she is not upset about it. The youngest co-host on the talk show will be gone completely by the end of the year. That's because the 30-year-old star has something else already lined up. Raven will star in and be executive producer of a spin-off of her 2003 "That's So Raven" comedy series on the Disney Channel.

Co-host on 'The View'

Symone has been with "The View" for only one year. It might seem like she has been there much longer because she was a guest co-host many times before she became a permanent co-host in 2015.

She was hired to be the voice for young people, but "The View" is focusing more on national politics, and politics is not one of Symoné’s strong areas to discuss. Other contributors such as Jedediah Bila and Sunny Hostin have received more appearances because of Raven's lack of political knowledge for the upcoming election

After Raven leaves "The View" at the end of the year, it is unlikely that she will be replaced since the show already has eight co-hosts who are there on a rotational basis. Raven's exit comes at a time when ABC had been looking for ways to have fewer co-hosts anyway.

'That's So Raven' spinoff

After leaving "The View," Raven will move from New York City to Los Angeles for her new show that hasn't been named yet. She was a teenager in her role of Raven Baxter in "That's So Raven" from 2003 to 2007.

In the spin-off, she is a divorced mother of two pre-teen kids. One of the children inherited Raven's psychic ability.

Producers think a spin-off will be successful because the original show went off the air in 2007, and it is still averaging 1.1 million viewers in reruns on the Disney Channel almost a decade later. While that show had teenager and pre-teen viewers, the spin-off will have teenagers and adults. Raven Baxter will attract adults while her children will attract teenagers. There will be something for both.
