"One batch, two batch, penny and dime"

With Marvel's "Luke Cage" in full swing, it looks like the well-oiled partnership between the streaming giant and Marvel is showing no signs of slowing down. With an active slate that features "Daredevil," Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage," and soon to be "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders," Frank Castle is also looking to crash the party, and he is bringing plenty of ammunition with him.

After being featured in the second season of "Daredevil," fans were instantly pulled in by Jon Bernthal's gut-wrenching turn as former Marine-turned sharp-shooting vigilante, Frank Castle.

As with all adaptations that fall under this Netflix/Marvel umbrella, both Charlie Cox's "Daredevil" and Bernthal's Frank Castle are darker portrayals, giving each character the kind of edge and grit that was lacking in previous film adaptations. It's this grit that continues to resonate with fans, and, as Charlie Cox was able to breathe new life into Matt Murdock, so too was Bernthal able to bring to life a darker, edgier, yet, humane portrayal of a combat-hardened veteran with no family and nothing to lose.

Bearded Jon Bernthal in newly released set photos

Posted by Just Jared, the photos reveal the 40-year-old "Walking Dead" alum Jon Bernthal sporting a hoodie and a full beard. With filming for the first season of "The Punisher" underway in New York, this leaves the door wide open for further speculation regarding not just "The Punisher" series, but the larger slate of titles mentioned above that comprise this universe, and the varying ways each may interact with one another by way of crossovers and the like moving forward.

With "The Defenders" and "Iron Fist" expected to arrive sometime in 2017, it would be fair to assume that "The Punisher" won't be too far behind, and, at the very least, it's very likely that Jon Bernthal could make an appearance in either one (or both) of these series before Bernthal suits up to take the helm of his own.

In the meantime, you'll have to binge or re-binge "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones," and "Luke Cage" on Netflix while we wait for further information.
