Megastar Mammootty's career has been going through an all time low for the past couple of years, and to revamp his stardom, the Malayalam mass masala entertainer ''Thoppil Joppan" has hit the theaters on October 07, 2016.

The movie is directed by Johny Antony who has previously made "Thaappana" and "Thuruppu Gulan" with the Superstar. As expected "Thoppil Joppan" is a lighthearted comedy entertainer, and the director has also added some powerful mass elements to meet the needs of Mammootty fans.

An in and out Mammootty show

There is nothing special about the story of the film, as we have witnessed similar kind of roles in movies like "Kottayam Kunjachan," "Nasrani" etc. Even though cliched, Mammootty has portrayed the character of a badass South Kerala Christain with perfection. His acting is very energetic, and even though he is aged 65, the actor looks like a young man in his mid-thirties. His chemistry with young heroines Mamta Mohandas and Andrea Jeremiah was excellent.

Even though the film's story has nothing fresh to offer, it is Mammootty's charismatic performance which hooks up the audiences on the theater screens.

Engaging narration

The flaws in the story have been overcome well by Johny Antony through his slick narrative. The director once again proved that he is a master in crafting commercial entertainers targeted at family audiences.

The first half of the movie offers a complete laugh riot to the audiences, while the second half moves with adequate elements of family sentiments and emotions laced with the cover of humor.

Vidyasagar who returned to Mollywood after a small hiatus has done a neat job by composing fun songs and touching BGM.

Box-office predictions

The movie is locking horns with Mohanlal's "Pulimurugan" at the box-office, and it will not be an easy run for the movie in the theaters.

The occupancy is more than 70% in all centers, and if word of mouth too falls in its favor, it will collect somewhere around 5-6 Crores by the end of this weekend.

Final call

This Johnny Antony directorial is a tailor-made film for the family audiences, and a must watch for Mammotty fans.
