After 15 seasons of glittering ballroom action, "Dancing With The Stars" Australia was formally cut from the Seven Network's schedule over the weekend due to lagging viewership, according to multiple reports. Professional dancer Kym Johnson Herjavec, who served as a judge on "DWTS" Australia and owns Mirrorball Trophies from both the Australian and American versions of the hit reality dance competition, both confirmed the news and lamented the decision via an Oct. 24 Instagram post to followers.

Kym Johnson 'sad' but hopeful that 'DWTS' Australia will return some day

The 40-year old dancer, who won "Dancing with the Stars" Australia's second season with TV and radio presenter Tom Williams before coming stateside to take the trophy with both entertainer Donny Osmond and former NFL star Hines Ward, shared an image of herself with her fellow judges.

She wrote that though she's "so sad" that the show has "hung up its dance shoes for now," she remains hopeful that it will make a comeback in the future because you "can't keep a good ol dancing girl down for long." She extended her thanks to everyone who helped to bring "joy" to the "DWTS" ballroom during the show's run.

News of the show's cancellation came as a surprise to fans, as it came on the heel's of long-time judge Todd McKenney's recent announcement that he'd received a new contract for the show's 2017 season.

Back to the US?

The end of "Dancing with the Stars" Australia could well pave the way for Kym Johnson Herjavec to return to the show's American sister. The beautiful blonde, who tied the knot with former dance partner and "Shark Tank" star Robert Hejavec on July 31, has frequently served as a co-host on the online companion show "DWTS All Access," which provides viewers with behind-the-scenes content and interviews as the live show airs.
