When IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe continues his quest for the "Dancing With The Stars" season 23 Mirrorball Trophy tonight on ABC, a critical member of #TeamStopAndGo won't be on the ballroom floor to help guide his Halloween Night steps. According to an afternoon TMZ report as well as an Instagram post by "DWTS" dancer Jenna Johnson, Sharna Burgess --Hinchcliffe's usual partner-- will not be able to perform during the live show.

Injury sidelines Sharna Burgess

Burgess sustained a knee injury during last Monday's dress rehearsal, and according to TMZ, "doctors want her off the joint for 3-6 weeks." Although the report speculated that the gorgeous Aussie will miss the remainder of "Dancing with the Stars" season 23, that bit of news is unconfirmed.

With the Aussie unable to accompany "DWTS" season 23 frontrunner Hinchcliffe during their planned "You Don't Own Me" Viennese waltz during tonight's show, Johnson, who partnered former Disney star Jake T. Austin this season before they were sent packing during week two, Instagrammed that she will take her place in the routine. The "So You Think You Can Dance" alum called the circumstances "very unfortunate," and asked that fans "send Sharna the most healing, loving, and positive energy" possible.

Hinchcliffe also sounded off on the evening's change in plans with a tweet to fans that confirmed that he'll be dancing alongside Jenna Johnson. He wished Burgess well, and added "Won't be same without her tonight but in great hands w/@Dance10Jenna."

Although it's a sad turn of events for the duo, Sharna Burgess is not the first "DWTS" pro to be sidelined by injury.

Success with a new partner?

Through the first seven weeks of competition, James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess have enjoyed tremendous success in the "DWTS" ballroom. They've racked up the highest total of judges' points to date with 258, and judge Julianne Hough even asserted that Hinchcliffe is the best male celebrity to ever grace the show. Whether or not he'll earn the same success with Johnson remains to be seen.

"Dancing with the Stars" season 23's Halloween Night will begin tonight on ABC at 8 PM Eastern/Pacific. Tune in to see how Hinchcliffe fares without Burgess by his side.
