"Dancing With The Stars" 2016 continued Oct. 10 on ABC as the nine remaining pairs took part in the always emotional Most Memorable Year Night of the competition. Tears flowed freely through many of the contestants' pre-dance segments and routines, and for the first time during "DWTS" season 23, no judge awarded any couple a score lower than an eight. So who wound up topping Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough, and Bruno Tonioli's leaderboard at night's end and who's likely in trouble when a fifth couple is sent home next week?

'DWTS' 2016 week 5 leaderboard toppers

IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess last held the top spot on the "DWTS" 2016 leaderboard when they finished premiere night tied with Olympic gold medalist Laurie Hernandez and Valentin Chmerkovskiy.

But Memorable Year Night saw them to the head of the class with a classy "The Right Time" tango inspired by Hinchcliffe's near-fatal accident that earned a nearly-perfect mark of 29.

Pro dancer Burgess didn't mince words when she hit Twitter following the show to talk about their routine. The stunning Aussie wrote "That Tango was Magic @Hinchtown!! #TeamStopAndGo @DancingABC #DWTS"

Most Memorable Year Night ranking

The full "DWTS" week five results are as follows:

  • James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess: 10, 9, 10 = 29
  • Actress Marilu Henner and Derek Hough: 9, 9, 9 = 27
  • Reality TV star Terra Jole and Sasha Farber: 9, 9, 9 = 27
  • Country singer Jana Kramer and Gleb Savchenko: 9, 8, 9 = 26
  • Laurie Hernandez and Valentin Chmerkovskiy: 8, 9, 8 = 25
  • Actress Maureen McCormick and Artem Chigvintsev: 8, 8, 8 = 24
  • Former NFL star Calvin Johnson Jr. and Lindsay Arnold: 8, 8, 8 = 24
  • Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte and Cheryl Burke: 8, 8, 8 = 24
  • Model and activist Amber Rose and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 8, 8, 8 = 24

Who's in jeopardy when 'DWTS' 2016 resumes?

Although all nine pairs survived the week, another will be sent home when the show resumes next Monday, and the four pairs who scored 24 judges' points are likely the ones in the most trouble come "DWTS" results time.

As the lowest-scoring celebrity still in the mix, the recently-engaged Ryan Lochte is probably most likely to exit stage left, but he and Burke have scored just two points fewer than Rose and Chmerkovskiy, so anything could happen.

"Dancing with the Stars" 2016 continues Oct. 17 on ABC with Latin Night. Entertainer Pitbull will join Inaba, Hough, and Tonioli at the judges' table.
