The incredible insensitivity shown by "comedians" and Comedy Central for joking about the dead who lost their lives in the Twin Towers tragedy has been slammed by Media Analyst Mark Dice. In a Youtube video published on 10 September, Dice expressed his shock at English comedian Jimmy Carr's despicable comments where he literally laughed at those people who died in America's biggest terror attack 15 years ago. Dice pointed out that Comedy Central had actually approved this. What is going on with American show-biz? After he took to Twitter to direct people to his YouTube clip, his story has started to trend.

Before airing the particularly tasteless jokes by Carr, after describing Carr as a despicable "dirt-bag" Mark Dice mentioned that the comedian was about to joke about another comedian, Pete Davidson.

Davidson's father was a firefighter who gave his own life to try and rescue victims of the Twin Tower attack. This was a follow-on on from another "funny quip" that referred to the death. Dice says that Carr at first, appeared to be sympathetic. He initially seemed to be appalled at people  making insensitive jokes, as "everybody should be."

Butt of the joke fireman burned to death in the Towers

Incredibly, Carr then said that "this is not the roast of Pete Davidson's father -that was in 2001." Well, if you don't get it and it's maybe a little too subtle for you, burning  to death and being roasted was the supposed "funny" point of Carr's punchline. It was obviously not too subtle for the audience. They laughed! Dice, in his narrative, said," Look at the people laughing...even the guy who lost his Dad thinks it's funny." What is happening in American show-biz when people can laugh at "the fact that a firefighter died and burned alive in the Twin Towers?"

There is a shot of the crowd laughing but at least one person did not think it was funny.

She was bottom left of the screen and the look on her face was not one of amusement. As the audience erupted around her in laughter, she looked shocked. Dice pointed out that Rob Lowe, who admittedly had sex with an underage child was laughing. (The show as originally meant to be a Rob Lowe Roast) There were also apparently multiple jokes about children being raped - perhaps Lowe felt right at home? Is this what passes for comedy in America? Dice said the jokes on Comedy Central all have to be approved and the fact that they "allowed this to air and that the audience and panelists think this is funny is ...despicable."

Reactions from viewers

Reaction from people who have seen the video include comments that range from incredulity to shock and even put-downs that Dice wants to "stop comedy in America?"  "Do you see this guy laughing hysterically? Words cannot express this guy's moronic behavior," said Valdovi Anton.

Another comment was "Demonic, not just moronic." Whilst another commentator said, "Downright freaking SHAMEFUL beyond words."

Perhaps Americans who think there is humor in the September 11 terror attack need to remind themselves of the day, the time, the tragedy that hit their country by re-watching the video below and then decide if they still want to laugh.
