In a surprising twist, former Playboy Playmate Pamela Anderson has declared that she thinks that pornography is harmful and encourages people to stay away from it.  The 49-year-old Anderson, who made her living flaunting her body on the cover of Playboy, has apparently changed her stance on the very industry that provided her livelihood and notoriety.

Popular in both print and on screen

In addition to glossy magazines, Anderson also showcased her assets on the Television screen,  her most memorable role being cast as C. J. Parker on Baywatch, running the beach alongside heartthrob David Hasselhoff during the 90s.  Her acting career branched out to include a few film productions that didn’t do well, and she also tried her hand at writing, penning two books, the second of which - Star Struck - is loosely based on her own marriage to rocker Tommy Lee.

Cover model closes the page of an era

Exposing her body to the world appeared to be her most lucrative career choice, and the buxom blonde graced the cover of Playboy 15 times since her first appearance there in 1989.  In what seemed a fitting close to an era, Anderson shared her name and body in the magazine’s January/February 2016 edition, the magazine’s final publication that featured full nudity.  The last hurrah before her body starts to betray her?

From saving animals to saving mankind?

A long-time animal rights activist, Anderson is now apparently trying to save mankind from himself.  Campaigning the negative effects of porn, she states that it’s “for losers”, even citing it as the cause of Anthony Weiner's compulsive sexting problem.  Hitching her wagon to Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, who was also Michael Jackson’s spiritual advisor, the two shared with The Wall Street Journal that pornography has a “corrosive effect on a man’s soul and on his ability to function as husband, and, by extension, as father.”

True change of heart, or attention-seeking publicity stunt?

What brought about Anderson’s recent change of heart on the subject of porn?  At 49, has she decided that she’s gained enough from exposing herself, and it’s time to cover up before things start going south, or has there been a true shift in her moral beliefs?  There’s no word on just how Anderson plans to carry out this anti-porn mission.
