Michael Strahan probably had that first day of school feeling on September 6, 2016. He didn't have to report to a classroom. Instead, he reported to ABC's Good Morning America for his first day as a full-time co-host. It seems so long ago when it was announced he would be joining the team full time. For the last two years, he has worked as a part-time co-host alongside Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Amy Robach, Lara Spencer, and Ginger Zee. They are all excited to have Strahan onboard every day of the week.

Stephanopoulos must be super excited to have another man at the desk with him among so many women.

Michael Strahan's journey to 'Good Morning America'

The former Giants football player left his job as co-host on Live with Kelly and Michael four months ago. He hadn't expected to leave so soon after the announcement, but things became so tense working with Kelly Ripa after that. It was in the best interest of everyone concerned that Michael left on May 13 after working on the show for four years.

Since then, Live with Kelly has been having guest co-hosts and has not settled on a replacement for Michael. However, the 44-year-old has found a new home.

Michael Strahan's first day

Strahan was welcomed by his co-hosts on Twitter even before he arrived on his first day as a full-time employee. Unlike many employees on their first day on the job, Michael was familiar with the staff, other employees, and everyone associated with GMA. After all, he had worked there on a part-time basis for two years.

Most of the co-hosts dominate their hour and then they seem to disappear; however, Michael was seen the entire two hours from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. He, Robin, and George opened the program with the news. Michael and Robin welcomed Michael's friend, Usher, at the end of the show. Usher had flown in just to support Michael on his first day as a full-time employee. It didn't hurt that while he was there, Usher announced the release of his new album, Hard II Love, debuting on September 16.

Michael got to meet his pint-size lookalike at the end of the show.

The 7-year-old boy has been seen in a commercial for weeks leading up to Strahan's first day. The little fellow was dressed like Michael even down to the brown shoes. He was given a Pokémon backpack filled with gifts. When asked what his classmates thought about the commercial, Ethan said he hadn't returned to school yet, but he will be in the second grade when he goes back to school.
