A week after "The Brady Bunch" star Maureen McCormick and Artem Chigvintsev opened their stint on "Dancing With The Stars" 2016 with a Viennese waltz that failed to impress the finicky panelists, they hit the ballroom for a chance at redemption when the hit reality show returned for round two of the season 23 competition on Sept. 19. So did their show-opening TV Night tribute to McCormick's iconic role as Marcia Brady please the "DWTS" judges and decrease their chances of elimination during the Sept. 20 "Dancing with the Stars" results show?

Maureen McCormick rehashes 'DWTS' 2016 week one

During the duo's pre-dance rehearsal segment, McCormick called "Dancing with the Stars" 2016 premiere night "scary" and admitted that it was "really, really hard" for her to wind up at the bottom of judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, Julianne Hough, and Bruno Tonioli's leaderboard; she and Chigvintsev tied with Disney actor Jake Austin and Jenna Johnson for second-to-last place, and only Rick Perry and Emma Slater earned fewer points.

Her "Brady Bunch" TV mom Florence Henderson paid her a visit to offer up a pep talk, and McCormick concluded the segment by telling America "I don't ever want to be done [on "DWTS" 2016].

Bradys in the 'Dancing with the Stars' ballroom

Set to the iconic theme song from "The Brady Bunch," McCormick and Chigvintsev's quickstep served as a delightful opening act for week two. McCormick slipped back into her famous role in a seventies-chic pantsuit with matching head band, and looked at ease all throughout as she, Chigvintsev, a quartet of the "DWTS" troupe members, and Henderson joined her in the ballroom for the fun-filled romp. It was a definite improvement from week one, and a definite shot of nostalgia for anyone who loved "The Brady Bunch."

The 'DWTS' judges react

The panelists were pleased with the effort. Head judge Goodman appreciated how they captured "the flavor" of the TV show and praised McCormick's improved confidence.

Hough agreed, noting that McCormick lacked the "deer in the headlights" face that had troubled her week one routine, but told them to work on body contact. Tonioli liked the "deliciously well-pitched 1970's feel" but noted a "couple of foot faults." Inaba, finally, appreciated McCormick's more relaxed demeanor on the ballroom floor and praised her for appearing to have "a great time."

McCormick and Chigvintsev bettered their "DWTS" 2016 week one mark of 22 by four points, scoring a pair of sevens (from Tonioli and Inaba) and a pair of sixes (from Goodman and Hough), for a week two total of 26 points. The marks place them near the center of the week's leaderboard, and in a three-way tie for ninth place on the combined two-week tally.
