Fans of Dancing With The Stars were stunned to see that Mark Ballas would not be one of the pro dancers matched with a celebrity for Season 23. It had sounded during early rounds of DWTS spoilers as if he would be in the mix of things, but when the official announcement came, he was not included. Now the dancer and musician is sharing a bit with his fans about his departure.

Mark Ballas' Dancing With the Stars departure shocked many fans

Mark Ballas has been on every season of Dancing With the Stars since he first began back in Season 5, so he certainly is due to take a break if he so desires. Ballas is spending a lot of time focusing on his music career and his fiancee BC Jean, so many DWTS fans have wondered if he chose to take off a season.

On the other hand, during the Olympics he had been tweeting about wanting to partner with gymnast Laurie Hernandez, who is on the show this fall, so many fans have felt confused.

After the initial announcement, Ballas didn't say anything, and the night before the Dancing With the Stars slate was announced he had teased a big day ahead. Now he is reaching out to viewers and thanking each of them for their support over the years. He says that he is moved and grateful for all of the messages he's received since it was revealed that he would not be on Season 23 of DWTS.

Mark doesn't go into specifics regarding the decision, but some might note that this does sound somewhat like a goodbye to the show as a whole.

Ballas does hint that he has big projects lined up, however, and he promises to share more details soon. His music career is rapidly building right now and that is clearly his passion, but there is no doubt that Dancing With the Stars fans will miss him this fall.

Things remain hazy regarding whether Mark Ballas chose to leave Dancing With the Stars on his own

Of course, DWTS viewers are still wondering whether Ballas asked to depart or whether the show made the decision to cut him. The answer has not been revealed, although Courtney from PureDWTS noted that out of Mark, Karina Smirnoff, and Tony Dovolani, she knows from insiders that at least one of them chose not to return. Karina has been on-and-off the show for a while now, so it certainly could have been her decision to take a break, and hearing that Tony was not a pro this fall did come as a surprise to many.

Whether this was Mark's decision or not remains to be seen, but it sounds like either way, he's looking ahead to new challenges and ventures.
