Lil Wayne used to be the hottest rapper in hip hop. Now it seems like the New Orleans native is nowhere to be found. Now it looks like Wayne might be considering retirement from the rap game after a recent tweet that really upset some of his fans. Then again, maybe he's not because the rapper seemed to contradict himself just a few hours later.

"I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I'm dun," Lil Wayne wrote on Twitter.

Is Birdman the reason Lil Wayne wants to quit rap?

Many wondered why Lil Wayne would write something like that. He didn't give any details beyond the initial tweet but some believe he is just tired of fighting with his former mentor Birdman, whose record label Cash Money Records has been holding up Wayne's most recent album for what seems to be no good reason.

Months ago it seemed that Lil Wayne and Birdman had made up and fans were excited for that. With the two feuding rappers finally making peace, it meant that Wayne's long-delayed album might finally drop. That didn't happen though and their feud heated back up rather quickly.

Part of their initial feud included some tweets from Wayne when he became frustrated over the delayed release of an album that has been years in the making. While the New Orleans rapper claims the work is ready to release, Birdman says that isn't the case and that he's not dropping the record until it is ready. The whole thing screams of a power struggle between the two rap moguls.

Shooting at Lil Wayne's Miami home is a hoax

Most recently, police were called to Lil Wayne's Miami mansion over reports that someone had been shot. The reports came soon after Wayne tweeted that he wanted to retire from rap and many believed that whole two events may have been related. It's no secret that Wayne's beef with Birdman and Cash Money Records has been raging again.

Soon after the Lil Wayne shooting report was proved to be a hoax, Wayne tweeted again to let fans know that he was alright. He didn't take back his retirement threats though and many believe the rapper is looking to retire as a way out of his contract with Cash Money and all the drama that it has caused him.
