Halloween Horror Nights kicked off on September 16 with nine haunts that offer a mix of original material and intellectual properties, as well as five scare zones for guests to navigate.

The number of haunted houses means somewhat shorter lines because there are more big draws, and it also means that guest should plan to arrive early and spend a full night, preferably from opening till the last screams fade through Universal Studios Florida at 1 or 2 a.m., depending on the evening’s closing time.

You’ll also hear about this year’s shows, included the triumphant return of 'Bill & Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure,' now in its 25th year, and the brand-new 'Academy of Villains: House of Fear':

'Walking Dead' cast and producer stop by

One of the returning intellectual properties is 'The Walking Dead,' now in its fifth year at Halloween Horror Nights, as you might have guessed by seeing the cast in the previous video.

They visited Universal Orlando Resort to see the park’s iteration of their show in a haunted house that incorporates all the best scenes from past seasons.

Also on hand was Producer Greg Nicotero, who joined the event's creative minds for a question and answer session which you can see below:

Last year’s Halloween Horror Nights icon was Jack the psychotic clown, flanked by his girlfriend, Chance. Jack has been a popular perennial icon for the event, but in 2016 Chance comes into her own as she takes the helm.

As the story goes, Jack left her to take the rap alone last year in the aftermath of another murderous rampage, and she was committed to the Shadybrook Asylum, a place that's been featured at the event in many past years. She presides over both a scare zone and a haunted house in

She presides over both a scare zone and a haunted house in Universal Studios Florida this year.

They take guests literally into her warped mind, and the maze uses 3-D effects to add an extra layer of fear. Chance was also on hand to greet the media at the opening night event, as you can see in the video below:
