Most Hollywood movies that garner over $1 billion revenue tend to produce sequels. As such, the ludicrously lucrative "Fast and Furious 7" is expected to follow suit, yet it ended in a real closure and aftermath drama that has raised more questions than answers. Will the rockstar series continue following the death of Paul Walker? What about the current feud between The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) and Vin Diesel? Or is it time to let the iconic crew of the legendary series hit the road into the sunset after playing their greatest roles in the franchise history?

That debate has been growing hot day by day, especially in the "Fast & Furious" fan community, but now we have a definitive answer.

Actor Vin Diesel recently confirmed that an eighth installment is on its way, along with a ninth and tenth. It seems the world can’t get enough of what Dominic Toretto and his motley gang packs in those near-impossible missions. But first, let’s dig deeper into what we already know about the upcoming sequel.

When does 'Fast 8' open in theaters?

Vin Diesel revealed to his fans on Facebook and Instagram that Furious 8 was set to begin a new trilogy that would culminate the franchise all together with Furious 10.

Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision… they have been like family… I promised the studio I would deliver one last Trilogy to end the saga." He said.

Universal needed more time to finish off a screenplay and find a replacement director, as "Furious 7" director James Wan was moving on to "Aquaman." Later, Universal went about circling the release date which aligns with what Vin Diesel had conveyed to his followers.

Cast members who are coming back in ‘Fast 8’

Vin Diesel says that the crew members aren’t his friends; they are his family—that’s why they keep on reprising their roles movie after movie. At the end of "Furious 7," the crew found a way to bid farewell to Paul Walker, but that does not stop the wheel from spinning. In addition to Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, and Mitchelle Rodriguez have become a part of growing cast. The film also highlights the return of some notable characters like Jason Statham and Eva Mendez and will also introduce a new character who will be portrayed by Paul Walker’s real-life brother. Oh, and one more thing, despite his busy schedule, The Rock will be back as Hobbs. He has confirmed that it can’t continue without him.
