"Dancing with the Stars" hoofer Derek Hough revealed in his TV Guide blog that he's a "hypocrite" after his performance with celebrity partner Marilu Henner during week two of the celebrity dance competition. Derek remarked to fans that he believed the week to be "challenging" and he felt like he was untrue to himself during the couple's Foxtrot in season 23.

"It was a challenging week trying to do the foxtrot to the 'Taxi' theme," remarked the dancer to "TV Guide." "The struggle was very real!

I had some really cool ideas and some really creative stuff, but when I tried to put it to music, nothing was connecting in my head."

Derek Hough resorted to tricks to score points with the Judges

The dance pro then remarked that he fell to a trick that dancers use to kill time until the routine can start - the use of props. He said to the publication, "One of my pet peeves is when people don't do anything at the beginning of the routine to kill time, and I kind of did that with the red cloth. I was like, 'Ugh, what am I doing?' I was doing everything that I hate!

Such a hypocrite! But it was impossible to foxtrot to the flute portion of the song. It's OK. We got through it!"

Derek Hough and partner Marilu Henner seem to be resonating with fans of the series, who continue vote their favorite couples through weekly through telephone votes and votes via the series Facebook page and ABC page.

Why Did He Return to the Show?

The dancer, who returned to the "ABC" series this season after taking season 22 off, has a new outlook on his return after some time away.

He initially left the series after winning a mirrorball trophy with Bindi Irwin during season 21 in 2015 and sat out season 22 to prepare for a starring role in "Singin' in the Rain" on Broadway and his role as Corny Collins in NBC's "Hairspray Live!" The play's launch was delayed due to an unavailability of a theater for the Broadway show's debut, which was scheduled for December 2016.

Hough remarked to his fans in a post on his official Facebook page, "It's always great to be back with my DWTS family, coaching, creating and making lasting memories.

I'm grateful to everyone at Hairspray Live! for enabling me to do double duty on two major productions at the same time this fall. It's going to be a challenge that I'm looking forward to."

"Dancing With The Stars" special "Face-off" episode airs Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
