Dancing With The Stars 2016 premieres Sept. 12 on ABC as the new cast of hopefuls hits the ballroom for the first time to impress America with their smooth moves. Which of the celebrities in the mix is the early favorite to take home the Mirrorball Trophy and who should prepare to join Redfoo, Geraldo Rivera, and Lolo Jones in the First Sent Packing club? Bovada Sports posted the first batch of DWTS 2016 odds on Sept. 1.

Laurie Hernandez tops Dancing with the Stars 2016 odds

Favored to win the DWTS season 23 title (with field-best +350 odds) is effervescent teen Laurie Hernandez, who claimed a pair of gymnastics medals at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro last month.

Given her extensive performance experience, peak physical condition, and apparent nerves of steel, the 16-year old, who is paired up with season 20 pro champion and fan-favorite Valentin Chmerkovskiy, is a logical pick for favored status and will without doubt be a legitimate title contender.

Show history also predicts a good showing for Hernandez. Shawn Johnson won the season eight title with Mark Ballas, and nearly won the all-star season with Derek Hough; she wound up placing second to reality star Melissa Rycroft. The other two Olympic gymnasts who have competed on DWTS -- Hernandez's Final Five teammate Aly Raisman and Nastia Liukin-- each placed fourth during their respective seasons.

Although Hernandez is favored to win according to preseason Dancing with the Stars 2016 odds, she'll face stiff competition from several other contenders.

Other highly-ranked celebs are fashion designer Amber Rose (+500 odds) and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, entertainer Vanilla Ice (+700) and Witney Carson, and former NFL wide receiver Calvin Johnson (+750) and Lindsay Arnold.

So who's most likely to be dismissed early on? Taking the unenviable position of season 23 long shot with +3300 odds is former Texas Governor Rick Perry, who will dance with Emma Slater.
