Professional dancer Cheryl Burke is returning to Season 23 of Dancing With The Stars. She has been away for three seasons. Fans have missed her and are glad to see her return. It is a surprise that she is returning because when she left in 2014, there was no indication that she'd be back. Cheryl is partnered with Olympian swimmer Ryan Lochte who has come under scrutiny for a scandal that happened at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio. What was Cheryl's reaction when she first found out who her partner would be?

Cheryl Burke's talks about her partner

Cheryl Burke talked to Mario Lopez on Extra last Wednesday. The popular professional dancer revealed that she was surprised at the first discovery that the 12-time Olympic medalist (six gold, three silver, three bronze), swimming champion would be her dancing partner. She added that she was shocked that he would be a contestant on the show after the Rio scandal. Her only concern is that she hopes he can dance as well as swim. She confesses that even though Ryan is a pro in the swimming pool, he will need help with his moves on the dance floor.

She knows she has a lot of work to do, but she is up for it on her first season back.

Cheryl's supportiveremarks

Cheryl did not say anything negative about Ryan Lochte being her partner. In fact, she was very supportive. Lochte was under contract to compete on ABC's popular dance show before the Rio scandal occurred. Cheryl believes Ryan will do his very his best to put what happened in Rio behind him.

It could be an avenue for redemption. Cheryl advised her fans and followers of DWTS to give her partner achance to bounce back from the scandal. The two-time champion says Lochte can "cha cha it off."
