2016 has been a tragic year for many. It seems like every other day another celebrity dies, leading to worldwide mourning. But just lately a new wave of sadness has taken over, as we sob over the break-ups of our favorite celebrity couples.

First Brangelina, now Naomi and Liev

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie shocked everyone last week when they announced [VIDEO] their divorce. Speculation has been rife as to whose fault it was (with most people rubbishing Pitt) and what will happen to their children, their estate, and their Hollywood careers.

Now Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber have called time on eleven years of being together. The couple have two children who don't share the limelight as much as the Jolie-Pitt kids do.

The 'Swiftie' curse strikes again

Not all of 2016's break-ups have been to such enduring Relationships. Taylor Swift, a singer who seems to be making a career out of being unable to keep a man, has split with Calvin Harris and Tom Hiddleston this year.

More surprising was love's young dream, Brooklyn Beckham and Chloe Grace Moretz, calling time on their budding romance. I thought we were set for a wedding with those two.

Another high-profile divorce that generated more headlines than the marriage itself was Amber Heard and Johnny Depp. Depp is said to be helping Angelina Jolie through her heartbreak (strictly as friends), while Amber has holed herself up in a hotel room with newly single Cara Delevigne. Delevigne broke up with partner St Vincent a few weeks back, despite rumours that the two were to become engaged.

Are our celebs in crisis?

So is this rash of conscious uncoupling the latest celebrity fashion or have we all just given up on long-term relationships? At the time of writing, power couples the Beckhams and the Kardashian-Wests are still living in wedded bliss, and I hope they continue to do so. But no couple is immune to scurrilous rumors, as Beyonce and Jay-Z discovered when she released "Lemonade." Allegedly, the infamous "Becky" was created by Bey's songwriting team, and Jay-Z is innocent of adultery.

But if the public can be deceived into believing that Queen B can be cheated on, then no couple is safe.

With three months left of 2016, there is plenty of time for more of our favorite couples to give up to the curse. At least the romance of Fall might mean that we get some super cute proposals to balance things out.
