Fans of ABC's The Bachelor have been doing a lot of speculating about who would be named as the next lead and the announcement had finally been made. For months, gossip guru Reality Steve had indicated that Luke Pell from JoJo Fletcher's Bachelorette season was the likely pick, with Chase McNary being another possibility. However, viewers kept buzzing about other possibilities and for a change of pace, a shocker was revealed.

Who did The Bachelor tap to be the 2017 lead?

ABC revealed their Bachelor pick during Tuesday night's After Paradise and much to almost everybody's surprise, Nick Viall got the nod.

Viewers first met Nick when he was on Andi Dorfman's Bachelorette season, and then he came back to woo Kaitlyn Bristowe last year as well. He was the runner-up that time too, and he had many rolling their eyes when he also showed up in Bachelor in Paradise this summer.

Nick has still been looking for love during Season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise, where he has been romancing Jen Saviano, but the word has been that they end up splitting during the finale.

Now, as GossipCop notes, Viall has been chosen to be the next Bachelor lead for the 2017 season. Show creator Mike Fleiss tweeted early in the night that the show didn't choose Luke as many had anticipated and he did confirm Viall as the choice later in the evening.

When can everybody expect to see more of Nick Viall as The Bachelor?

Filming of Nick's season will begin in September and wrap just before Thanksgiving.
