Two big Indian films hit the theaters all around the globe last Friday; Rustom and Mohenjo-Daro. At the end of the first weekend, the Akshay Kumar film has overpowered the Hrithik starer at the box office wth a wide margin

Both the movies enjoyed decent collections till Monday, and if we compare, we can quickly conclude that Rustom is much ahead of its competitor. The Tinu Desai directorial collected more than Rs 68 crores as of Monday last show, while the Ashutosh flick grossed only Rs.41 crore.

We should now wait and see to know whether the Hrithik starrer will emerge as a safe bet for the producers as it was made at a whopping budget.

It should be noted that both these films have received mixed reviews from the audiences, but fans of Akshay rushed to the multiplexes and gave him an upper hand.

Rustum is a crime thriller which portrays a real life story based on a brutal murder which happened in the 1950s. Akki enacts the character of a naval officer who is convicted of murdering his wife's alleged boyfriend.

The film has already started its course to enter the elite 100 crores club, and if it happens, it will turn out to be another blockbuster for the Khiladi after Airlift.

On the other hand, Mohenjo Daro showcases an interesting and adventurous tale in the backdrop of the Indus Valley civilization.

The Greek God of Bollywood has portrayed the role of a farmer named Sarmaan in this outing. Things take a new turn in his life when he falls in love with a wealthy girl from an affluent ruling family.

If word of mouth publicity will not fall in favor of the Ashutosh film, then in all probabilities, it will end up as a disaster.

Many people after watching this flick complained about the unrealistic treatment from the director, and they have expressed their disappointment from a filmmaker who has previously made a classic like Lagaan.

Audience response of 'Rustom'

Many trade pundits have given statements that both the films are equally good but due to the publicity and support of all Bollywood stars, Akshay's movie got more hype.
