Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Carlton Gebbia, and her husband, David, have announced their separation. Though the couple is splitting up, a source confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that the couple still lives in the same house for the sake of their children. News of the separation came just days after Carlton was rushed to the hospital.

Couple split after 18 years of marriage

The source told ET that it's important to Carlton Gebbia that her children have a "solid foundation" and "not be living in two homes." Since Carlton and David have been married 18 years, the source added that they can stand being together a while longer to raise their children -- Destiny, Mysteri, and Cross.

RHOBH alum has medical emergency

On Friday, Carlton was rushed to the emergency room after partying at a Los Angeles nightclub, Bootsy Bellows. The former RHOBH cast member was put in a wheelchair then carried out on a stretcher by paramedics. She was reportedly discharged a few hours later.

According to TMZ, multiple sources claim excessive alcohol is what led to Carlton's condition. By Sunday she was at home resting.

Carlton's rep told Daily Dish that alcohol had nothing to do with her collapse at the club, but an allergic reaction to some medicine following a photo shoot on Friday.

As a precaution, she was admitted to the hospital.

There's talk that Carlton's night out may have signaled difficulty in her marriage. Was the incident a coincidence or was it a precursor to their separation? It's unclear why she and David calling it quits. It's hard to blame her appearance on Real Housewives as the reason for their separation since she was on the program only one season -- and that was three years ago.

It's possible the resulting separation was delayed, but that's pure speculation.

Carlton Gebbia appeared on season 4 of RHOBH. She spent the season feuding with Kyle Richardsbut got along great with Brandi Glanville, who's seen in the top photo during the show. Carlton's Wiccan beliefs didn't resonate with viewers of RHOBH and she was cut from the 2014 cast lineup.

She definitely offered a flavor to the show in a way that set her apart from the other women.

While onThe Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Carlton described her husband as her "soul mate."
