Jenelle Evans is hoping to regain custody of her oldest child, son Jace, 7. In a new interview, the Teen Mom 2 star is opening up about her ongoing custody battle with her mother, Barbara Evans, who has maintained custody of the boy since shortly after his 2009 birth.

"It’s been going for a year and a half and my lawyer has been going to court for me and my mom’s lawyer has been continuing it. She continued it three different times … hopefully we get this all resolved in October when the court date comes,” Evans told Us Weekly on August 30.

According to Jenelle Evans, she hasn't yet regained custody of her son because she's simply not been able to nail down a court date.

Instead, she continues to spend time with Jace on the weekends as she awaits a court date in October.

Jenelle Evans' mom may not be ready to give up custody

Because Barbara Evans has been Jace's legal guardian since he was a baby, she's extremely close to the boy and the thought of not having him full time is likely quite scary for her. However, Evans doesn't see what the big deal is. “I think she’s just making up excuses because she’s attached,” she explained.

The Teen Mom 2 star continued on, telling the magazine that while she's trying to be nice as she and Barbara continue to battle for custody of Jace, she wants to "cuss her out" each time she sees her because she refuses to discuss the issue outside of court.
