When the Dancing With The Stars fall 2016 cast is finally revealed on Aug. 30, an Olympic gymnast will be among the group of hopefuls who will tango and waltz their way toward the season 23 title. According to an Aug. 27 ET report, Laurie Hernandez will look to add a glittering Mirrorball Trophy to her hardware collection, which already includes a gold and a silver medal from the recently-concluded Rio Olympics.

The #FinalFive and DWTS

Assuming the news is confirmed on Tuesday, Laurie Hernandez will be far from the first Olympic-caliber gymnast to join a Dancing with the Stars cast. Aly Raisman, who won three medals at the 2012 Olympics before returning to take another three in Rio as a member of the #FinalFive, placed fourth with pro Mark Ballas during season 16.

Additionally, although Olympic all-around champion Simone Biles opted out of the fall season, she stated publicly that she'd like to compete next spring.

Other gymnasts who have competed --and excelled-- include 2008 Olympic gold medalists Nastia Liukin, who finished DWTS season 20 in fourth place with pro partner Derek Hough, and Shawn Johnson, who won season eight with Mark Ballas before finishing the all-star season in second with Hough.

Other alleged members of the Dancing with the Stars fall 2016 cast

Over the past week, the Dancing with the Stars season 23 rumor mill has turned out a number of names. In addition to Laurie Hernandez, other celebrities identified as likely competitors --and their purported pro partners, when known-- include The Bachelorette 2016 JoJo Fletcher, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, The Brady Bunch alum Maureen McCormick and Artem Chigvintsev, Little Women: LA star Terra Jole and Sasha Farber, fashion designer Amber Rose and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Grammy winner Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds and Allison Holker, former NFL wide receiver Calvin Johnson and Lindsay Arnold, Disney star Jake T.

Although Hernandez's partner is currently unidentified by sources, DWTSGossip pegged either Derek Hough or Valentin Chmerkovskiy as the lucky guy. A look at the 16-year old's social media accounts suggests that Chmerkovskiy has the edge.

Pro dancers who are confirmed to be part of the Dancing with the Stars fall 2016 cast but whose celebrity partners have not yet been sniffed out by sources include Derek Hough, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Emma Slater, Witney Carson, and Gleb Savchenko. The identity of one pro dancer has yet to be revealed.

The Dancing with the Stars fall 2016 season will begin Sept. 12 on ABC.
