With just six days to go before the Dancing With The Stars 2016 cast is revealed in its entirety during Good Morning America, more details regarding the brand new lineup were revealed during an Aug. 24 photo shoot at Quixote Studios. So which former fan favorite pro is returning for another go at Mirrorball glory and which ex show staple sparked questions about his status after posing for a selfie with a purported celebrity contestant?

Emma Slater returns to join DWTS fall 2016 lineup

English beauty Emma Slater, who partnered social media star Hayes Grier last fall but did not participate in the series' spring iteration, formally joined the DWTS season 23 cast.

The big news was initially teased via the show's official Twitter page before it was made official a short time later via a video post featuring Slater. In the clip, Slater said she "couldn't be more excited" to be back and promised that Dancing with the Stars season 23 will be "amazing." She also teased that she'd just met her celebrity partner, but gave no definitive hint as to the lucky guy's identity.

Could Maks be back?

Another former DWTS pro also ignited speculation regarding this show status after an intriguing photo surfaced on Twitter.

The image in question features Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who retired from competition after winning season 18 with Olympic gold medalist Meryl Davis, taking a selfie with Amber Rose. Just yesterday, Rose was the first celebrity contestant confirmed by sources to be joining the DWTS season 23 cast. However, Chmerkovskiy's presence doesn't mean that he signed on to be a professional dancer; he may be joining the judges' panel, or it's possible that he was on hand to support younger brother Val Chmerkovskiy, who was confirmed as a season 23 pro on Aug.

23. The other pro dancers who will definitely take part this season include Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson, Lindsay Arnold, Sasha Farber, Allison Holker, Gleb Savchenko, and Artem Chigvintsev.

So which other celebs are likely to join Rose in the quest for the Mirrorball Trophy this fall? The Bachelorette star JoJo Fletcher is reportedly close to signing on, and embattled swimmer Ryan Lochte's name has also been floated in recent days --most recently by People-- as a possible candidate.

The Dancing with the Stars 2016 cast will kick off the new season on Sept.
