Crazy, insane, mad, fanatic, perfectionist - what other adjectives can be used to describe a man like Luke Aikins, who decided to jump out from an airplane from an altitude of 25,000 ft without a parachute on July 30.

Amid apprehensions, Luke Aikins stuck to his decision and proved a point. He showed to the entire world what a perfect skydiver he is. He jumped from a height of 25k ft and flawlessly landed on a 100 ft by 100 ft net at a speed of 125 mph!

Luke Aikins a veteran skydiver who trains US Navy Seals too

Luke Aikins is no ordinary dude who decided to accomplish this mission impossible by risking his own life. His profile on the Facebook account says he is a member of the Red Bull Air Force, a professional skydiver, BASE jumper, Hollywood stuntman, airplane and helicopter pilot and an aviation expert.

He also provides skydiving training to elite military forces and the famed U.S. Navy Seals. As a skydiver, he has jumped more than incredible 18,000 times from the planes!

Really no small feat it is.

Mission impossible ‘Heaven Sent’

There was a twist to the stunt show, which didn't come off as planned when Aikins was ordered by the Screen Actors Guild to wear a parachute to ensure his safety in case of an emergency.

Just before the jump, the show's hosts said the requirement had been lifted and 42 years old Aikins jumped from the plane without the parachute. He jumped with three other skydivers, who were armed with parachutes.

One of them was having a camera and the second skydiver trailed smoke so that the people on the ground could follow his free fall. The third skydiver took an oxygen canister from Aikins after they got to an altitude where it was no more required.

After falling through 25,000 feet through the air at a speed of 125 mph, Aikens flipped on his back at the last moment and landed on the 100 ft by100 ft net flawlessly. Two years back when his friend Chris Talley approached him with the idea, Aikins had turned it down.

The show took place at the Big Sky movie ranch on the outskirts of Simi Valley, California, and the Fox Network showed the live telecast of this mission impossible (made possible). The show ‘Heaven Sent’ was dubbed as the “most dangerous stunt ever shown live.”

Daredevil Luke Aikins is a family man and was a bit nervous

Aikins started his first tandem jump when he was only 12.

After four years he did his first solo jump. Since then he has accomplished more than 18,000 jumps till date.

He is the third generation skydiver, and skydiving is in his DNA. His father and grandfather both were acclaimed skydivers. He is married to Monica Lee Aikins who has already made 2,000 jumps.

The couple has a 4-year old son Logan. Aikins was really a bit nervous before the jump. But, with a strong willpower and tenacious training since last 2 years, he became the first man in the world to dive from mid-troposphere altitude and land safely on a net without a parachute to make a history.
