Live with The Roots

Mendes won't be going solo on The Tonight Show this evening. Instead, he will be performing live with the shows house band, The Roots. Canadian-born Mendes has his second studio album coming out on September 23. The album, Illuminate, is a follow up to Handwritten, which dropped on April 14, 2015.

Handwritten produced the hits Stitches, Something Big, and Life of the Party. On September 10, Mendes is going to preview his new album at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Tickets for that special event go on sale on July 16.

Headlining world tour

Mendes has spent the past few years on the road. He was the opening act for Austin Mahone in 2014 and for Taylor Swift in 2015. This year he is the headliner of his world tour which kicked off in Europe on April 16. Mendes made stops in 11 different cities throughout Europe in the months of April and May. He then took a couple of months off of touring and will be back on the road soon. The North American leg of the tour begins on July 15 at the Mizner Amphitheater in Boca Raton, FL. The tour will include performances in cities all over the U.S.

Mendes has a huge fan base and definitely gained much respect this past May at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. During the live awards show in Las Vegas, Mendes took the stage and performed a stripped down version of his hit song, Stitches. The audience went wild after his performance and social media blew up with praise over the young musicians talents.
