Entertainment Weekly reported the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) will pay homage to the movie Aliens on July 23. Aliens, directed by James Cameron, hit the theaters on July 18, 1986. Former cast members will appear for the event. Movie alumni include: Gale Anne Hurd, Bill Paxton, Lance Henriksen, Paul Reiser, Michael Biehn, and Carrie Henn who played Newt. Of course, no Aliens reunion is official without Sigourney Weaver and James Cameron. Both are scheduled to appear.

Although it took several years for an Alien sequel, the wait was worth it.The movie has grossed more than $175 million.The sequel follows Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), the sole survivor of a fierce battle against an acid-for-blood monstrosity that killed Ripley’s six shipmates aboard the Nostromo, a spaceship returning to Earth.

  

‘Aliens’ celebrates 30 years of success

Aliens picks up when contact with the Hadley’s Hope colony is lost. Aboard the spaceship USS Sulaco, a reluctant Ripley and a unit of marines are sent to investigate why communication with the colonists has gone silent. On arrival, they discover the only survivor of the colony is Newt, a terrified child who has managed to escape the alien creatures. The crew manages to find the missing colonists wrapped in cocoons and serving as hosts to the next generation of alien creatures.

Ripley soon learns she was a pawn in a money grabbing scheme to recover aliens for biological warfare. Ripley, a veteran of battling aliens, has to use her instincts and adrenaline to survive against a horde of aliens. The Alien franchise has become an empire and expanded into video games, collectibles, conventions, and other successful ventures.

The franchise has also contributed to the bank accounts of its participants. For instance, Paul Reiser appeared on Saturday Night Live in a skit with the monster from Aliens. Bill Paxton and Sigourney Weaver have both had major success and appeared in many Movies. Of course, James Cameron has become a global icon from his work in Aliens, The Terminator and Titanic. The Alien creatures have also battled alien hunters from the Predator films. Although Cameron is busy and doesn’t usually attend fan events, he said Aliens is special to him, which is why he agreed to appear at Comic-Con. The event is an opportunity for Alien fans to hear from those responsible for making the movie a hit.
