Mama June Shannon flaunted massive weight loss in a recent Twitter picture. But the pageant mom and former Reality TV star of "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" seems to be only one losing weight in the self-promoted "white trash" clan from Georgia. Morbid obesity still plagues daughter Alana Thompson, aka Honey Boo Boo. June Shannon changed her Twitter profile pic to what many celebrity magazines are calling a "sexy" and "hot." The new profile photo shows she's swapped the sloppy redneck shtick to sport a more trendy ensemble.

June Shannon loses weight

The Twitter photo shows that not only has Mama June lost a lot of weight, she's shed the grungy-and-proud-of-it image.

She's dropped a few chins, learned to apply makeup, comb her hair and choose cuter fashions. Instead of the baggy food-stained 6X T-shirt and sweatpants, June Shannon wears a shoulder-reveal top, flattering straightened hairdo with blonde highlights and striking cosmetic makeover. The dark plum lipstick and eyeliner contrasts the blonde so that many have said she is actually pretty. Mama June might even be a little more confident and less awkward with the weight loss and image upgrade. This doesn't discount the fact that reality TV and pageant mom pursued convicted child molester (Mark McDaniel) and may have had a child with him. But it's progress.

Honey Boo Boo doesn't (lose weight)

But one thing no amount of weight loss will excuse is the fact that Shannon allows, nay encourages her daughter to be so overweight.

Mama June got a brand new look, but her kiddo Alana Thompson seems to be getting heavier and heavier. June was warned on an episode of "The Doctors" last year that she and her daughter need to "lose weight or die." So Mama June heeded the advice for herself but not her child, it seems. Obesity rates are ballooning to over third of the population. Childhood obesity is a growing epidemic. It's all well and good for adults to get healthy and lose weight, but if they don't teach their children to be healthy, if parents don't help kids lose weight and keep it off, those children may not make it to adulthood.
