Hollywood has lost yet another great talent in the entertainment world. Television and film icon Garry Marshall has died at the age of 81 following complications from pneumonia.The entertainment legend has been in failing health for the past several weeks, only recently suffering a stroke. Fans can remember Marshall fondly and thank him for all of his hard work creating some of the world's most popular television sitcoms and films.

Marshall's lifelong career credits include fan favorites such as Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, which also starred Marshall's sister actress and director Penny Marshall as the outspoken, "L" monogrammed Laverne DeFazio, and "Mork and Mindy" to name a few.

The family sitcom legend has been responsible for decades of bringing families together in front of their television sets for nightly laughs and all continue to run in syndication to this day.

Great television was not Garry Marshall's only contribution to the entertainment world.Garry throughout his life has also spent many years working behind the camera bringing us film hits such as "A League of Their Own," "Hocus Pocus" and "Pretty Woman."

Family shares loving statement.

Marshall's death was confirmed by his family via statement saying, "He loved telling stories, making people laugh, and playing softball, winning numerous championships. Even at 81, he had a record this year of 6-1 pitching for his team."

Celebrities who have worked along side of Garry over the years have taken to social media to express their sadness and share fond memories of their times together. Henry Winkler, forever known as "The Fonz" on "Happy Days" posted,

Sadly, but with the best intentions, some fans have mistaken British journalist Penny Marshall for Garry's sister  actress and director, of the same name flooding her social media accounts with condolences.
