Dancing With The Stars alum and social media star Hayes Grier was injured in a car accident on Thursday, according to July 28 tweets posted by his brother, Nash. Fans of the 16-year old Vine sensation lent support to Grier and his family via use of the hashtag #PrayForHayes, which quickly became a trending topic on Twitter.

A rep for Hayes Grier confirmed the news via a statement to Just Jared Jr., which said that he'd been involved in an accident and transported to a hospital. The statement assured fans that the social media star was receiving "great care," but did not divulge the nature of extent of his injuries. The statement also did not reveal accident details.

Grier's brother provides updates

Tweets by Nash Grier provided more information. He broke the news of his brother's accident and commenced use of the #PrayForHayes hashtag, and later updated fans by posting a screenshot of a text he'd received that detailed his brother's injuries: though Hayes was "pretty busted up" in the accident, he has "no major [injuries]". He is, however, suffering from a concussion, fractured ribs, and a bruised lung, according to the message.

Fans, including sitcom actress Skai Jackson and The Tide's Drew Dirksen, were quick to offer up words of support to Hayes, with many posting photos of the Vine star during happier times.

Hayes' DWTS days

Although well-known to Vine devotees, Hayes Grier first rose to national fame as a contestant on the 21st season of Dancing with the Stars last fall.

Despite his status as one of the youngest celebrities to ever compete for the show title, he and pro dance partner Emma Slater --who comprised #TeamSlayes-- were fan favorites and enjoyed success in the DWTS ballroom. Ultimately, they placed just eighth, but earned plenty of praise from the show's judges for most of their routines. Iconic actress Olivia Newton-John was on-hand the night that Grier and Slater performed a dance from Grease, and was impressed with the teen's poise.

Dancing with the Stars returns to ABC on Sept. 12. For updates on Hayes Grier's condition, follow his brother Nash, @Nashgrier, on Twitter.
