She has been starring in the show since it began back on June 8, 2010. Mitchell has her role of Emily Fields down perfectly.

The Fields character is the athlete of the group who struggles with her sexuality while dealing with her father's deployment and then later her father's death.

The television series is adapted from a series of young-adult books of the same name. The books were written by author Sara Shepard and had appeared on the New York Times Best Seller List.

The 29-year-old Canadian-born actress and model got her start in the acting world back in 2001 when she appeared on the Canadian teen drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Before that, she had a lot of success as a model and traveled all over the world.

Mitchell discovered that acting was her true passion, so she left the modeling world to pursue her dreams.

Actress and author

Last year, Mitchell co-authored a book with her good friend Michaela Blaney. The book, titled Bliss, is about three 21-year-old women who try to keep their friendships together while struggling with the realities of growing up.

Although the book didn't excel on the charts, it was well received by fans of Mitchell and Pretty Little Liar devotees.

Mitchell has progressed from television to the big screen.

This year she starred in the movie Mother's Day alongside heavy hitters like Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, and Julia Roberts.

She played the role of Tina, a young woman who married an older man. Mitchell also appeared in the movie Dreamland, which made its debut at the Tribeca Film Fest this past April.
