Tom Hanks will be playing character Captain Chesley ‘Sully’ Sullenberger in Eastwood’s airline based movie which will be released on 9th September 2016. The trailer for the movie has just been released and shows us a snippet of the film which is based on a true story. The American biographical film has both been directed and co-produced by Clint Eastwood. So far it as taken a year to shoot the film and it was primarily shot in New York City but was also shot in other locations such as Atlanta, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Kearny and North Carolina.

It was in January 2009 that the world saw Captain Sully glide his doomed jet into the Hudson River, making it “The Miracle on the Hudson”.

The captain’s quick thinking led to him saving all 155 lives of those on-board, making him a hero. However, soon after the praise stopped there was an investigation into the goings on of the incident and suddenly his whole career was in danger as not everyone believed his statement of what happened in the crash.

The film follows the dramatic turn of events after a plane loses power of both of its engines at 2800 ft whilst carrying 155 passengers on-board. The pilot of the plane who had been flying for 40 years had plenty of experience but started to be questioned when they discovered that the left engine was in fact still in power. The exciting trailer hears protagonist Hanks say “No-one warned us, no-one said you were going to lose both engines at a lower altitude than any jet in history. This was dual engine loss at 2800 ft followed by immediate water landing...with 155 souls on- board. No-one has ever trained for an incident like that.”

The trailer for the new movie shows Tom Hanks’ character go from being called a ‘hero’ to suddenly being scrutinized and questioned in terms of alcohol consumption and what was going on in his home life.

The new film also features Aaron Eckhart, Laura Linney, Anna Gunn, Autumn Reeser, Holt McCallany, Jamey Sheridan and Jerry Ferrara. It is a work of Warner Bros Pictures and was written by Todd Komarnicki.
