Fire and Blood

Staying true to the roots of her house, Daenerys Targaryen has had to walk through fire and blood on several occasions throughout the 6 seasons of HBO's 'Game of Thrones.' Whether it be violently losing her brother and essentially being sold to Khal Drogo, or, more recently, dealing with the Masters in the Slavers bay of Meereen, Daenerys has always had an iron will to get what she has been after -- quite literally walking through fire and blood to reach it.

A farewell

We find Daenerys on the cusp of finally sailing to Westeros to reclaim what she believes is rightfully hers -- the Iron Throne. She meets with Daario Naharis to command that he and his Second Sons stay behind in Meereen to keep order whilst the rest of her army sails to Westeros.

Naharis does not take the news well, but Dani seems more than sure in her conviction as to what must be done. With the guidance of Tyrion, she realizes the complication that will arise should she bring Daario along with her, especially in light of the fact that she may need a marriage alliance to further fortify her claim to the throne.

It seems that most viewers were never too big on that romance, as we still hold onto an idealized version of the love Dani eventually shared with Drogo, and, it seems, nothing can quite top that. Ultimately, it shows just what Dani is willing to sacrifice to get the thing which she has devoted her life to, and she will let nothing and no one stand in the way of that.

Tyrion also finds himself once again in a somewhat familiar position. Where once he served as the Hand of the King, he now officially serves as Hand of the Queen, having earned Dani's trust and having been loyal to the utmost.

For Tyrion, who has always been a cynic, it was quite moving to hear him speak of how, with Dani and her dragons, he finally has something to believe in. This also adds a bit more fuel to the fire that Tyrion may in fact be one of the three dragon riders alongside Dani and Jon Snow.

Westeros

It has taken 6 seasons, but Dani has finally amassed full strength and support to take back the Iron Throne. We see that Varys and his secret mission led him to Dorne, where he sought the alliance of both the Sand Snakes and the Tyrell's against the Lannister's, which, after what Cersei [VIDEO] did to the Tyrell's and just about everyone in Kings Landing, shouldn't be very hard to do.

Along with this, Dani also has a Dothraki horde, The Unsullied, the Ironborn, and 3 dragons. It goes almost without saying that it was quite an ending sequence to finally see everything that Dani has been building for the last 6 seasons all come together on their way toward Westeros.

With Dani and her army sailing West, Cersei seizing power and control of the Iron Throne as Queen, and Jon Snow uniting the North [VIDEO], it seems as though all the pieces are finally in place for what should be a showdown of epic proportions in the final two seasons of 'Game of Thrones.' There's also the fact that the Night King and his army of the dead are still arguably the biggest threat of all.

Even though we will have to wait until next season to find out more, there's no question that David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and the rest of the cast and crew have left fans with the most exciting and pulse-pounding Finale to date. Some may even go as far as to call 'The Winds of Winter' the best episode of the entire series.
