AOL (UK) have run an article that pretty much confirms the speculation surrounding Daniel Craig’s determination not to act in any more of MGMs James Bond Movies. They have quoted a source as saying that Daniel Craig is “done” with the Bond role. This came in the wake of major betting that forced Coral Bookmakers to suspend the odds on Hiddleston, star of The Night Manager, replacing Craig.

No official announcement.

Daniel Craig has already acted in four of the Bond movies, and after the last one, Spectre, it was reported by the Daily Mail that he would not act in another one, no matter how much money they threw his way. There has been no official announcement yet, but given Craig’s adamant statements to the press in the past that being the Secret Service Agent is, “not what he wanted,” undoubtedly, MGM will confirm his decision.

Punters set on Hiddleston.

Punters in the UK might be set on Tom Hiddleston as the new James Bond, but it is not a given that this will happen. The Telegraph has released a video where Hiddleston himself says it hard to engage with the idea of taking the Bond role, as it has arisen out of speculation. This said, the paper did state that Hiddleston was reportedly seen “meeting with…director Sam Mendez.”

Leading British actor.

Tom Hiddleston is a 35 year old British actor, who is best known for his role in the Marvel production where he first played the role of Loki. His acting career saw him star in Steven Spielberg's War Horse, Midnight in Paris, amongst others and in 2015 he has been the leading role in the thriller Night Manager mini-series.

Awards.

Tom is obviously a very gifted actor, as is under-written by numerous awards.

These include the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Newcomer in a Play, the Empire Award for Best Male Newcomer, the MTV Movie Award for Best Fight and Best Villain and the Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Actor. He was also nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award for his role in Thor.

Pizzazz.

Hiddleston just might have the pizzazz and bad-guy image to carry off the role of James Bond, fearless secret agent. His good to be bad ad campaign with Jaguar Cars came off rather well. The ads were themed around villain-typed characters which were a bit of a macho stereo-type - but isn't that what James Bond is all about? Hiddleston, describes himself as a feminist, which would go down well with new-age Bond image. He could probably step into Craig's James Bond shoes without stopping to change his socks.
