When Dancing With The Stars 2016 resumes on May 23, the three finalists are slated to deliver two routines apiece --including the highly anticipated no holds barred freestyle numbers-- for America's votes and scores from judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli. But according to a May 22 Us Weekly report, a "serious" injury sustained by one of the three Mirrorball Trophy hopefuls may force her to withdraw from the competition.

Ginger Zee out of the finals?

Per the article, Good Morning America weather anchor Ginger Zee suffered a pelvic injury while rehearsing her contemporary routine with pro partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy, who won season 20 with actress Rumer Willis.

Although the precise nature of the injury is unknown, it is severe enough that Zee, 35, is unable to perform the full routine, and DWTS troupe member Jenna Johnson had to serve as her stand-in during camera blocking.

Entertainment reporter George Pennacchio tweeted that Zee is resting and seeing the show's physical therapist.

Whether she will be able to compete during Monday night's finals will be decided during the hours leading up to the live broadcast.

Paige VanZant, Nyle DiMarco ready to go

Zee's competition life may be in question, but her two competitors for Dancing with the Stars glory are prepared to bring their best to the finale. Mixed martial artist Paige VanZant, who dances with two-time pro champ Mark Ballas, tweeted a photo of herself "pas[sed] out from practicing all night" on May 21.

America's Next Top Model winner Nyle DiMarco, who is paired up with Peta Murgatroyd, also expressed excitement over making the finale via Twitter, when he posted a photo of himself clutching a tiny DWTS Mirrorball trophy. The accompanying text read "DWTS has been so much fun. I will miss the family!! Whatever happens, I love being able to tell my story & inspire."

If Zee withdraws from the competition, it will mark the second consecutive season that a health issue has led to Chmerkovskiy's departure from the show.
