There have been a lot of rumors flying that The Vampire Diaries is coming to an end and will not be returning after season eight. Things have just not been the same since Nina Dobrev left. Despite the gossip, no one has formally confirmed that series' end. Now Ian Somerhalder is speaking out and saying that this show is actually coming to an end after this season. On April 10, he made an appearance and said it was over. The thing is Ian is the only one confirming this news so far.

What Ian revealed

Ian Somerhalder is saying that this show is totally over now. He said that they decided to give it one more season to finish up all the story lines. Fans of The Vampire Diaries have known for a while that the end is near. They do want to see some closure and would not want this show to just end and not come back. It would be best if he is right and they can end the show knowing it is coming to an end.

He said that this would give the story justice, which is true. Kat Graham had already shared that season eight would be her last, but if it is the final season that makes sense. She had said that letting go of the crew would be the hardest part for her.

Will it really end?

As of right now, Ian is the only person saying that the show is over. Kat Graham saying she is leaving after season eightmakes it sound like it will be around for at least one more season.
