Since Deadpool was released, the film has had mostly favorable reviews, and it has been smashing various box office records – especially when it comes to R-rated comic book movies. But what really matters here is: no one was surprised that The Hollywood Reporter confirmed a sequel is on its way.

We can safely assert that Deadpool has, without a single doubt, left the door open for the production of superhero movieswith more mature content. It has given hope to comic book fans and it has reassured movie studios that they can invest lots of money in the production of audacious superhero films, because people will get out there to watch them.

After so many failures and questionable enterprises (Fantastic Four, the recent Spiderman movies, Wolverine Origins), 20th Century FOX seem to have finally regained the trust of superhero enthusiasts, and they intend to keep it – that’s why they are making sure that the sequence will be produced and directed by the same team, and, of course, that Ryan Reynolds is coming back to portray the beloved mercenary.

The truth is that Deadpool has had his own storylines in the Marvel comic universe for a long time now, but fans seem eager to see the merc interacting with other characters and teams. We know for a fact that Cable will be in the sequence because Deadpool has made the following statement in a post-credit scene of the first movie:

"Oh you're expecting a teaser for Deadpool 2.

Well, we don't have that kind of money. But I can tell you one thing that's a bit of a secret. The sequel? We're gonna have Cable. Amazing character - bionic arm, time travel... We have no idea who we're gonna cast yet but it could be anybody."

We don’t know who else will join Deadpool in his next adventure, but we know that it will be great.

Cable and Deadpool have a weird "bromance-ish" love/hate chemistry that can lead to an excellent sequel. Cable’s uptightness along with Deadpool’s complete lack of limits have always granted great comic stories that we think will work just as fine in the big screen. Unfortunately, we don't know when the movie will be released, but our guess is that FOX will announce the release date for Deadpool 2 in the next month or two in order to keep the hype up while everybody is discussing the first movie.

Until then, it is a great time for people who enjoyed the movie to get to know the comics.
