While fans of "Supergirl" and "The Flash" are anticipating next week's epic crossover episode, members of the WWE Universe who also follow Kara Danvers on the CBS superhero drama will be anticipating the arrival of former WWE Divas Champion Eve Torres as she takes on the role of Maxima. Following in the footsteps of Batista as Drax in "Guardians of the Galaxy" and Sheamus as Rocksteady in the upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2," Torres is the latest WWE creation to make the transition from sports entertainer to live-action super-being.

The original Maxima

Historically, the DC Comics character Maxima was initially associated with Superman.

An alien from Almerac with powers far beyond those of mere humans, Maxima came to Earth in hopes of convincing Superman to impregnate her. The Kryptonian's consistent rejection of Maxima's advances and the fragile state of her home planet lead to all sorts of adventures for Maxima in the DC Comics universe, often times opposed to Superman, other times aligned with DC's good guys.

The "New 52" Maxima

However, with all of the new backstories given to many of the DC characters as part of the "New 52," 2014's version of Maxima presented a new problem. While the future of her people and her planet depends on her finding a suitable male to provide a suitable seed, her heart is more interested in finding a suitable female companion.

One should expect that Maxima will show some interest in the beautiful Supergirl as portrayed by Melissa Benoist.

WWE stars as comic book characters

Eve's introduction into the DCTV world is scheduled for April 11th, and will play into the season-long arc involving the Myriad mystery. Although it makes no reference to Eve Torres or Maxima, the official CBS episode description for next month's "Myriad" reads as follows: "Kara must find a way to free her friends when Non (Chris Vance) and Indigo (Laura Vandervoort) use mind control to turn National City’s citizens into their own army."

With a list of skills that includes hypnosis, telekinesis, telepathy, and invulnerability, it's easy to see how she might be a Supergirl ally in such a scenario. However, if things turn out like they did when she had feelings for Superman, Maxima could turn on Supergirl and make it even harder to stop Non and Indigo as they take over National City.
