R. Kelly can’t escape his dark past. More than seven years after he was faced with child pornography charges, the 49-year-old still faces accusation of sexual assaults with underage women, almost similar to Bill Cosby’s case. While he has escaped tough questions in the past, he agreed to speak with GQ magazine about his life.

In his recent candid interview titled The Confessions of R. Kelly, the R&B singer talked about the assaults he suffered as a child, his secret relationship with Aaliyah, the sexual allegations, and sleeping in his closet.

Revelation on sexual abuses

Kelly, who talked about his life in his 2012autobiography Soulacoaster, made it public that he was sexually harassed when he was a young child of about seven or eight years.

"It teaches you to definitely be sexual earlier than you should have, than you’re supposed to." Kelly vividly remembers the molestation, intercourse, and oral sex by his kin back then and just about into his adolescent years.

"As I’m older, I look at it and I know that it had to be not just about me and them, but them and somebody older than them when they were younger, and whatever happened to them when they were younger," Kellysaid. "I looked at it as if there was a sort of like, I don’t know, a generational curse, so to speak, going down through the family. Not just started with her doing that to me."

Relationship with Aaliyah

Though he’s ready to speak about his life, the Grammy award winner isn’t ready to talk about the controversies that turned him into tabloid fodder.

Kelly refuses to speak publicly about his relationship with Aaliyah (who died 15 years ago) and still denies that they were once married.

"I will never have that conversation with anyone," he told GQ magazine. "Out of respect for Aaliyah, and her mother and father who has asked me not to personally.

But I can tell you I loved her, I can tell you she loved me, we was very close. We were, you know, best best best best friends."

Ultimately, he remains resolutethat he did nothing to Aaliyah, who was underage at the time. "Absolutely not," he stressed. "That's my answer forever."
