As expected, the union between great characters is a great series. Think of it as the child of the Arrow and Flash TV shows, the child that makes their parents really proud.

How the Legends began

The plot is initially very simple, but keeps a very wide range of possibilities for the future:Rip Hunter is a member of the Time Masters, a group of devout guardians of time, keeping it safe from interferences and guaranteeing it flows in the proper way.

As a group, they hold no affiliation to any side or banner, and don’t even encourage emotional attachments (much like the Jedi Order).

Even so, after falling in love and seeing his world and beloved ones getting slaughtered, he goes back in time to do what he promised never to: change time.

Vandal Savage: villain of the past, present and future

Vandal Savage (Caster Crump) made quite a name for himself in the last Arrow and Flash special team up.

Had Barry not travelled back in time, they would all be dead (along with their friends) at the mighty tyrant’s hand.Thousands of years old, he needs to keep killing both Hawkgirl and Hawkman to restore his energies and make sure he’s not aging. And, as someone who’s had a lot of time to practice, he’s an unmatched fighter who also had the time to learn and understand every single piece of technology from its earliest stage of development. This is the bad guy that eventually did what many Bond-like villains only dreamt of: he conquered the world. To what end or how exactly, is still not clear, but that’s how the series began.

The crew of heroes

The Atom (Brandon Routh), Firestorm (Victor Garber e Franz Drameh), White Canary (Caity Lotz), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée), Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) and Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) are the team members.Hunter is, as said, the man who goes back one hundred years in time to gather a team together and save the world from Savage.

Even after an initial resistance, the team agrees that they need to face this threat and join Hunter in his quest.By the way, their base of operations is a ship with a very advanced interface: Gideon, created by Barry Allen in the future. Not bad for a true union of characters.

The future of the Legends

As we could’ve expected, the series has Savage as a main antagonist, and we can expect him to be the ultimate reason for their team effort.

Even so, it doesn’t look like he’s going to be the only problem around. The Mentalist was a great example of an excellent series with a clear antagonist who was clever enough to not get caught for many long seasons. Even so, the hero was always trying to take him down and the whole story developed itself accordingly. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow can be another example of such storytelling.Or, we could be weekly faced with the reasons why Vandal killed every incarnation of the Hawk couple, but, it'll be interesting to see if this show achieves the same success as its other DC kin of Arrow and The Flash.
