The Academy Award winner star of Jerry Maguire, Cuba Gooding impersonates the star charged with murder in a series that will be aired on 2nd February. According to him, it was the biggest challenge of his life. The series, titled American Crime Story dramatizes the most famous criminal cases of history: the first season, The People v. O.J. Simpson, consisting of ten episodes is about the homicide case of the sportsman turned actor. The director and executive producer of the series who based details on Jeffrey Toobin’s book titled The Run of His Life is Ryan Murphy (who became famous for the series Nip/Tuck). Later, he directed television and cinema productions like Glee, American Horror Story, and Eat, Pray, Love.

The original author of the book told at a roundtable conference that he had always known that someone could make a great film based on the story. “This is one of the most debated stories of America: a story about racism, sex, violence, and sport – and the only eyewitness is a dog” – said Toobin. Ryan Murphy said that they had tried to do an authentic and precise work. “I thought I had known everything about this case but as it turned out I hadn’t. I’ve never worked on a project before that needed so much legal examinations: at least five lawyers checked every line” – the director said.

Casting also required a lot of work as they casted more actors, and the series has more than a hundred characters altogether. The only exception was the prosecutor, Marcia Clark: Murphy knew from the very beginning that he wanted Sarah Paulson to impersonate her.
