When Dancing With The Stars season 21 continues Oct. 19 on ABC, the nine remaining celebrity/professional couples will take part in Famous Dances night, which will see them recreate iconic routines from a selection of popular films and music videos. So who's hoofing it to a Madonna hit and who's looking to channel week six guest judge Olivia Newton-John? An Oct. 15 report by Just Jared Jr. dished the details.

DWTS Famous Dances night: The movies

More than half of the couples will dance numbers from well-known films.

The lineup includes the following:

  • Train hero Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold: Jailhouse Rock from the Elvis Presley flick Jailhouse Rock
  • Singer Andy Grammer and Allison Holker: See You in the Morning from Singin' in the Rain
  • Wildlife conservationist Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough: (I've Had) The Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing
  • Big Time Rush star Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson: Pony from Magic Mike
  • Social media star Hayes Grier and Emma Slater: You're the One that I Want from Grease
  • Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess: You Should Be Dancing from Saturday Night Fever

DWTS Famous Dances night: The music videos

The remaining three pairs will shimmy and shake through recreations of memorable music video moments.

Participants and their assignments include:

  • Actress Alexa PenaVega and Mark Ballas, I'm a Slave 4 U by Britney Spears
  • Celebrity chef Paula Deen and Louis Van Amstel, Vogue by Madonna
  • Singer Tamar Braxton and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Rhythm Nation by Janet Jackson

Given that the couples were challenged to turn these memorable routines into rumbas, jazz numbers, cha cha chas, and jives, the final products in the ballroom should be interesting to behold. But the talented pro dancers have worked hard to bring them to life, and some have shared their progress with fans. Hough, for example, wrote in his TV Guide blog that he'd practiced the famous Dirty Dancing lift with Irwin in a "smelly" Los Angeles bog.

So who will rise to the top of judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough, Bruno Tonioli, and guest Newton-John's leaderboard? Who will be sent home at the close of the two-hour broadcast? Watch Dancing with the Stars season 21 week six on Oct.
