Fox’s new show Scream Queens is struggling with the ratings, even though show creator Ryan Murphy has a good point defending it by saying that live TV viewing isn’t what young adults are up to these days. This argument was certainly proven when the live-plus-three-day (L3) ratings were released, giving the show an 80% lift to a new total of 7.3 million across all platforms – including Fox Now and Hulu – but we still think that it was bound to a bigger success.

Fox certainly was placing high bets on the show with a massive publicity campaign and with a very impressive cast with names like Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Keke Palmer and Lea Michele, just to name a few, and guest appearances by Nick Jonas and Ariana Grande. So after reading numerous reviews and comments about the show we can list the top five complaints and top five compliments.

Top 5 Compliments

1. There is nothing like it on TV

The show is trying to do something that hasn’t been done lately. There isn’t any other one like this at the moment and while it's heavily influenced by movies like Heathers, Scream and Mean Girls, it still manages to standout as something unique.

2. Amazing cast

The show has a stellar cast, giving us some memorable scenes and performances, and it will be a lot of fun when it starts killing the stars one by one. Notable mentions go to Jamie Lee Curtis, Nasim Pedrad, Niecy Nash, Nick Jonas, Glenn Powell and Abigail Breslin.

 3. It's a Ryan Murphy show

Ryan Murphy is responsible for some of the biggest hits on TV in recent times such as American Horror Story, Glee and Nip/Tuck. So the man has certainly proven that he can bring interesting plots and characters to the TV screen.

4. The look of the show

Scream Queens is a pop culture and fashion heaven, everything on the show from the costumes to the sets are highly creative and immensely entertaining. On the fashion side, every character has at least three wardrobe changes per episode and every outfit is more outrageous than the other. Overall it seems like a fun pop video.

5. Simple fun and entertainment

The show isn’t trying to be the next Breaking Bad or Friends, it just wants the viewer to have fun, laugh at some jokes that would be never be allowed on any other show and enjoy some campy and gory scenes without being frightened .

Top 5 Complaints

1. Too campy

It's meant to be campy but maybe too campy is a bad thing, people were expecting a more serious show with a comedic tone, but it's just plain and simply a parody and satire in the likes of the Scary Movie series, leaving many viewers to say that’s is simply too goofy or too dumb to follow.

2. All over the place

With a numerous cast and little time to focus on them we are dealing with too many one-note characters and also the show simply throws very random clues for every character, so in the end the killer could be any one of them, making it useless to actually follow the plot for clues.

3. Offensive jokes

Viewers have complaint that some of the jokes are racists or insensitive. So in the end trying to be racy just to be racy isn’t funny and it can be plain offensive to some.

4. Not enough pop stars

The campaign of the show was heavily build around some notable pop stars, but the viewers found out that Ariana Grande was killed on the first episode and the Nick Jonas character was nowhere to be seen on the third episode.

5. It isn’t scary or funny enough

The show feels sometimes like it's trying too hard to be funny and not enough to be serious for the scary parts.
