Everyone has been talking about it. It's on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, CNN, and the talk of radio shows everywhere. 'Straight Outta Compton' premiered August 14th in theaters across the nation documenting the lives of N.W.A rappers, MC Ren, Dj Yella, Eazy E, Ice Cube, and Dr. Dre when the artists came out with their music label, Ruthless.

Director Corey Gray works with actors, Oshea Jackson Jr, Ice Cube, Jason Mitchell, Eazy E, Aldis Hodge,MC Ren, Neil Brown Jr, Dj Yella, and Corey Hawkins, Dr. Dre, to release the iconic biopic that topped Billboard and box offices around the country. Within two weeks of the movie being out, 'Straight Outta Compton' led box office ticket sales with 26.8 million dollars.

Even though the movie was a hit in theaters, some say that the movie did not fully document what exactly happened in the late 80's. Former N.W.A artist MC Ren praises the movie but feels that he deserved more screen time. Ren performed on seven out of the thirteen tracks on N.W.A's first record in 1988, wrote 4 songs, and co- wrote three more; whereas Ice Cube and Eazy E, who received more screen time, wrote four songs and co-wrote three more. Ren tweeted his slight disappointment in the movie on August 15th saying, "True fans know my role in the group as far [as] lyrics are concerned, don't let the movie fool you about my contribution to the group."

Along with Ren, Jerry Heller, manager of N.W.A, says that "Straight Outta Compton has it all wrong" and that he was not the cause of N.W.A's breakup, it was Dre.

Heller claims that Dre was making music for other "rival acts and producers" without Heller's knowledge. Heller wrote in his memoir, "Ruthless: A Memior," that Dre set E up with Suge Knight to be beaten until E signed for him to get out of his contract. Heller also states that 'Straight Outta Compton leaves out the "most disgraceful" part of the "Ruthless saga," Dr. Dre serving two years probation for throwing journalist Dee Barnes down a flight of stairs for showing a clip of Ice Cube on her Fox TV Show 'Pump It Up'.

Director Corey Gray was asked why he sided with Ice Cube and Dre instead of Heller in the making of the film and Gray stated, "Jerry or Suge or whoever, I read books and watched videos, I feel good about the information that I received and what is put in the movie." Ice Cube plans to reunite N.W.A, also known as 'The Black Beatles', on June 27th at the BET Experience for their first concert in 15 years.
