'Empire' returns to our screens on September 23rd for season two and a new forty-second promo has just been released. We can guarantee there will be more family drama, power struggles, backstabbing and original music! The new song that is featured within the promo is titled “No Doubt About It,” which is by Jussie Smollett (feat. Pitbull). Ne-Yo has joined producer Timbaland for season two, and his music influences are all over this new, upbeat track.

Although forty seconds may not seem long, a lot is included within this promo. Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) is trying to reconcile with Hakeem Lyon (Bryshere Y. Gray). Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) is in prison (though we're not sure how long he will stay there with Vernon Turner (Malik Yoba) - the one who was willing to snitch on Lucious' criminal past - being dead). It appears as though Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) and Andre Lyon (Trai Byers) are working together.

Anika Calhoun (Grace Gealey) also makes a brief appearance in the promo so we can be sure to see much more of her in season two.

Jamal's attempt to reconcile with Hakeem is something that must be questioned. Is he trying to play nice because he's the acting CEO of Empire? Or is it genuine brotherly love? Jamal says “I want you back at Empire” to Hakeem. When Hakeem asks why, Jamal answers “because we’re family.” No doubt, there'll be plenty of drama with these two brothers just as there was in season one.

Previously, Lucious had a major issue with Jamal's sexual orientation and it doesn't seem like that has gone away but with Andre's mental disorder and Hakeem's young know-it-all attitude, Jamal was the obvious choice.

Cookie is looking better than ever. With Lucious in prison, she is no doubt eyeing the Empire for her own. “This is about us taking the Empire." We're all rooting for Cookie to get what is rightfully owed to her so here's hoping she gets it and Lucious remains in prison.

Maybe he isn't so untouchable as he thought he was.

Here's a brief summary of season one: Lucious Lyon is a father of three sons - Andre, Jamal and Hakeem. He is the founder and CEO of a successful record label - Empire - however, he has been diagnosed with ALS and told that he has approximately three years to live. He must choose one of his three sons to take over the company when he dies. Lucious's ex-wife Cookie Lyon has just been released from prison after fifteen years and wants to reclaim her rightful place within the company.
