Jurassic World’s writer/director, Colin Trevorrow has been assigned with the direction of Star Wars: Episode IX.Trevorrow will direct the final episode of the newStar Wars trilogy. The first, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be in cinemas before Christmas. The space saga’s Episode IX’s premiere can be expected by 2019, but its preparation is beginning this year – as it was said at Disney D23 Expo.

Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, called the 38-year-old Trevorrow an “amazing talent”. She said that she had been interested in working with him since she had seen his debut, Safety Not Guaranteed.

As she said: “that film’s power paired with the enormous success of Jurassic World speaks volumes about his abilities as a storyteller and a filmmaker.” Jurassic World was a blockbuster this year: viewers all over the worldhelped it rake in more than 1.5 billion dollars.

According to Trevorrow, directing a film is like a campfire where you are surrounded by an extraordinary group of storytellers, filmmakers, artists and craftspeople. He added that he makes movies for the younger generation because he thinks that they deserve their mythology of their own just like the previous generations.

J.J. Abrams directed Star Wars: The Force Awakens, then Rian Johnson will directthe followingEpisode VIII which will be in the cinemas in 2017.

During the expo for Disney fans, the first pictures were also published about the separate production set in the Star Wars universe, Rouge One, in which Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen and Donnie Yen will also appear. The Studio informed the audience that they will build Star Wars themed places in its entertainment parks in Orlando and in Anaheim.

Copies of the Millennium Falcon spaceship will be exhibited in both parks, in which visitor can go on “secret missions”. Bob Iger, President of Disney, promised great experiences for Star Wars fans who visit the parks. The exact date of the locations’ opening hasn’t been announced; they only said that it can be expected soon.
