There are times in life when you have done all you can do. You did the leg work. You did the sleuthing. You proved your case and still justice is perverted. This is the point where everyone expects you to give up. After all, you have every reason to. The problem is that it's not you.

Change is possible

There are people who no matter what you do and no matter how hard you try, will always see you in the light of your mistakes. They will never let you forget the time you screwed up big time. They have this idea in their head, that you are the same person that you always were. So they will ply you with temptation after temptation and they will especially try to tempt you when they know they have the upper hand.

These people are cowards and while they are blaming you for not measuring up to their standards, they won't dare look in the mirror to see what kind of person they really are. Why? Because it's much easier to criticize you than it is to be honest with themselves. This is true at least for some people. Some people know who they are and they make no apologies for it. They know who you are and what you stand for and they get a kick out of trying to make you feel bad because making you feel bad makes them feel good.

A positive response

Here's the response. You can't make someone like you. You can't make someone do right by you because even if you do right, they can and will find a way to make it seem like you've done wrong.

That's what they do. You could get mad, but that's what they want. You could cry, but that's what they want. So, you might as well be happy. Remember people can take all of your possessions. They can remove you from all hope but they cannot take your smile. That belongs to you and no man can steal it.

In the Bible, Paul suffered various persecutions. He was surrounded by people who relentlessly accused him of things that he did not do. He was thrown into jail, mocked, beaten and ridiculed. You know what his response was? "Not that I speak in respect to what I want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

(Phillipians 4:11). Happiness doesn't depend on money or possessions or even a nice place to lay your head at night. Happiness is something that you take with you and other people can take whatever they want. They can't take your happiness. So, let them form an opinion about you. Let them talk. Let them mock. Don't let them steal your joy.
