Civil lawsuit filed against presumptive Republican nominee for President, Donald Trump

Earlier this spring, a lawsuit that was filed against the presumptive Republican nominee for President (Donald Trump) was thrown out but later reinstated. The lawsuit is not one based on a business practice or a contract gone wrong. This time the lawsuit is much more personal and much more horrendous if true. On June 20th, Jane Doe filed a civil suit against Donald J.Trump for raping her when she was only 13-years-old. The lawsuit accused Trump of raping her in 1994 at a party hosted by billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.

Epstein was jailed in 2008 for having sex with underage girls and for solicitation. Epstein’s parties, or sexual exploits, have been a source of fodder for tabloid journalism but there are actual underage children who were abused.

The accusations against Trump

The case against Trump is difficult to comprehend. According to “Jane Doe’s” affidavit, that Trump had sexual contact with her at 4 different parties in 1994. It was at the final party that she alleges that Trump forcibly raped her. Doe’s affidavit states that, “Trump tied me to a bed, exposed himself to me, and then proceeded to forcibly rape me. During the course of this savage sexual attack, I loudly pleaded with Defendant Trump to stop but he did not.

Defendant Trump responded to my pleas by violently striking me in the face with his open hand and screaming that he would do whatever he wanted.”

Trump organization calls it a politically motivated attack

A spokesman for the Trump organization, Alan Garten, who is the Vice President and the General Counsel of the Trump Organization, state that the allegations in the lawsuit are “categorically untrue, completely fabricated and politically motivated.” Trump also stated that “the allegations are not only categorically false, but disgusting at the highest level and clearly framed to solicit media attention or, perhaps, are simply politically motivated.

There is absolutely no merit to these allegations. Period.”

This presidential campaign has heard other accusations of rape

Whether the accusations are politically motivated or not, the accusation of rape has come up more than once in this presidential campaign. Trump’s campaign brought to the attention of voters the allegations of Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey against former President Bill Clinton.

Broaddrick has accused Clinton of rape while Willey accused Clinton of sexual assault. Now we have the allegation that Trump raped an underage girl. In 1993, then wife, Ivana Trump accused Trump of martial rape while going through her divorce, she later recanted that accusation.

Rape as a political tool

How did rape become a subject to be used as a political tool? So far there have only been allegations. There has been no proof presented that any of the stories and accusation against either man have been found. All we have are the women and their stories and their allegations. The voices of rape victims are often silent. Their suffering kept to themselves. If rape continues to be a political tool, real victims will the ones who suffer, even more.
