On Friday morning, Michael Wolff's highly anticipated book "Fire And Fury: Inside the Trump White House" was released on Amazon and at bookstores around the country. Since the book's release, reviews have been mixed, with the president, his family, and administration pushing back.
Trump Jr. on Twitter
It was less than a week ago when the first excerpts of "Fire and Fury" were released to the public causing an avalanche of problems for the White House.
The book, written by author Michael Wolff, details the Donald Trump campaign as well as most of the president's first year in office. One of the main sources of information comes from Steve Bannon, the current head of the right-wing Breitbart News who previously worked as Trump campaign CEO and later Chief Strategist in the White House. Bannon revealed potentially damaging information, with other members of the administration doubling down. Following the book's release, reviews have ranged from positive to others doubting the credibility of what was published. As expected, Trump quickly dismissed the book as pure fiction, with his son Donald Jr.
doing the same during a series of tweets on January 6.
Taking to Twitter on Saturday, Donald Trump Jr. came to the defense of his father in response to the release of "Fire and Fury." "The more I hear about this book the more I realize it’s nothing more than a pathetic smear campaign," Donald Jr. tweeted out, claiming that the details of the book not match up to what he saw during the nearly two years of his father's campaign. "It will sell only because haters want to believe it," Donald Jr. added.
Double down
Following a Twitter exchange between CNN's Jake Tapper and Paul Farhi of the Washington Post, Donald Trump Jr. decided to chime in. Donald Jr. agreed with Tapper who defended him from the book's claims that he and his family members questioned the president's ability to serve.
"I have never and would ever say such a thing," he wrote in agreement with Tapper.
"I’ve seen my father do amazing things throughout my life & ALWAYS be successful," Donald Trump Jr. stated, before referring to Wolff's book as "libelous & vile." His tweets come as the president has also ripped into Wolff, calling him a "loser," while also putting the target on the back of Steve Bannon. Trump has nicknamed his former right-hand man "Sloppy Steve" while accusing him of crying after he was fired from his job at the White House last summer. Despite the best efforts of the Trump family and the entire administration, "Fire and Fury" skyrocketed to becoming a bestseller after only one day of being put on bookshelves.
